The Sile is Europe’s longest spring-fed river: it rises from springs welling up in the plain and flows slowly and clearly down to the Venetian Lagoon, passing through Treviso, Casier, Casale sul Sile and Portegrandi. Its course is protected by the Sile River Regional Nature Park.

The Sile Greenway runs along the old towpath and is perfect on foot or by bike; at Casier you can see the wrecks of the ‘burci’, the old cargo barges. River cruises heading towards the lagoon leave from Quarto d’Altino and Portegrandi.
