Cividale del Friuli
~1 h 20 by car from Casa Fiorindo
Founded by Julius Caesar as Forum Iulii, Cividale became the capital of the first Lombard duchy in Italy. The Lombard Temple, with its early medieval stuccoes, is part of the UNESCO site ‘The Longobards in Italy. Places of Power’.
The symbol of the town is the Devil’s Bridge, spanning the emerald-green waters of the Natisone. With medieval lanes, the National Archaeological Museum and osterie pouring the wines of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, it’s a day trip that wins everyone over.
